I have memories both as a student in the 60’s and as the school secretary in the early 90’s. As a student, I remember the “candy store” that was in the back of the second grade classroom, with Sister Mary Edmundine. I recall smelling all that sweet candy and chocolate as a second grader, while trying to focus on math, even though the tables were covered during class time! Pretzel rods were 1 cent, bags of chips were 5 cents…pretty much everything was a penny. As a secretary for Sister Mary Cantalice, I remember the feeling of “coming home” there, for both of my children and for myself. I remember the family atmosphere and respect that was shown to all by the staff, students and parents.
